   CATHEDRAL MUSIC

The Cathedral Church of St Andrew is known across Scotland for its quantum and consistency of music. The cathedral delights in offering a range of high quality music which parallels both a cathedral of liturgical offices, and a cathedral of vibrant and exciting concerts. The music heard within the cathedral is one of the glories of its existence: the Music Department is proud to be a centre for liturgical music in Aberdeen, and the premier focus of liturgical music north of the River Forth. The cathedral's concert series is unparalleled across the United Kingdom, and in the same vein the program of choral services is increasing. The musical program offered by the cathedral provides everything to the worshipper, ranging from quiet contemplation at Choral Compline, through to both the glories of the Choral Evensongs and the magnificent mystery of the Choral Eucharist. The concert series, which advertises and encourages young musicians, also displays many established international performers on a weekly basis. At the heart of the Music Department is the selection of five cathedral choirs, the breadth and vigour of the concert series, and the two officials of the department, The Organist and Master of the Choristers, and the Assistant Organist.
